Check out this cool new startup we found. Vizify uses graphics to bring together all your social networks into a picture of you!Tweet
Vizify is an up and coming social media channel that creates beautiful, "graphical bios" of all your scattered virtual info.
The site uses content from up to five other social media services (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare etc.) and draws it all together to form your homepage, which then breaks down into a page for each piece of info e.g. a graph showing the words you use most on Twitter. If you use all of these sites your page can start to look a little busy but it's easy to edit and arrange the info until it is exactly how you would like it as well as adding extra stuff that might not already be on your pages.
It is increasingly true that it's no longer an option to have no online presence when applying for jobs (especially if you're a student or recent graduate, and especially if you are applying into creative or entrepreneurial circles) and having a negative presence is even worse. Vizify themselves articulate this on their webpage:
"FIRST, SECOND, EVEN THIRD IMPRESSIONS DON'T JUST HAPPEN ACROSS CONFERENCE TABLES OR AT COCKTAIL PARTIES ANYMORE. IF YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA REGULARLY, CHANCES ARE GOOD THAT YOUR FUTURE BOSS, POTENTIAL CLIENTS, EVEN YOUR NEXT DRINKING BUDDY, ARE GETTING TO KNOW YOU BY GOING ONLINE."
Vizify can help to pull together everything you want to say so that employers are able to see a little more about you than just the professional side (LinkedIn) or a few random photos (Instagram) or Tweets (Twitter - obviously) - and best of all, it's all in one place and it looks so pretty!
So far, it seems to be going well. The bosses of Vizify spoke to HR managers who agreed the biggest difficulty when recruiting is to find someone who is a "cultural fit" (found through Mashable) and Vizify could well be the solution to this. As well as bringing together your scattered online presence, Vizify allows you to create a series of "vizcards" which are quirky little expressions of your personality ranging from your superhero powers to your hot beverage of choice.
Personally I like Vizify and think it has a lot of potential to grow into a great tool. The site only just came out of Beta and is promising more development to come but so far I think it is one of the best ways I have discovered to create a slick, manageable, informative and interesting online presence, all in one place.
